LAWN CARE

Maintaining your lawn is one of the most important cultural practices performed in lawn maintenance. Regardless of whether you fertilize, irrigate, or apply control products to your lawn, high quality lawns require proper lawn mowing practices. Many home owners mow their lawn too short because they believe they don’t have to mow as often.

Here is why that’s bad: Cutting your lawn low increases moisture and nutrition demands as the grass tries to recover from being cut so low. Shorter grass mean less chlorophyll, which grass uses as a food source to rebuild. It also allows the soil to dry out much faster, (this could be horrible during extreme summer weather) and weeds germinate better and get off to a faster start when taller grass blades aren’t in the way.

A better idea would be to cut cool-season grasses about 3 inches high, or at least higher than what you’ve been doing. The belief that cutting it short makes it so you don’t have to cut the grass as much is very far from the truth. Grass actually grows faster after it’s been cut short as it tries to rebuild itself to its genetic norm. No worries! Let us handle your lawn mowing services and you don’t have to worry about the length of your grass. We have got it covered!
